ITV does 20th Century deal
Friday, 20 Jun, 2008
ITV has signed a deal with US broadcaster, Twentieth Century Fox Television (TCFTV), which will see them share content.
By redeveloping each other's programmes, they should reduce costs and could even share production facilities.
"We have long recognised that American producers do not have a monopoly on creativity or ideas for great television series," commented TCFTV chairman, Dana Wald.
The deal includes the establishment of a joint development fund to help create additional content, which they can develop either together or separately for international distribution.
ITV's global content's managing director, Lee Bartlett, recently joined the UK firm having worked with the Fox network. He said the deal was proof of the high regard in which Hollywood producers consider ITV's writing and production.
The two companies employ hundreds of digital and creative jobs. The collaboration could create additional opportunities for media planning jobs to extend the reach of ad messages.
