Summer warms up – our seasonal market report

Wednesday, 16 Jun, 2010

As is usual at this stage of a recovery (we've seen three downturns and recoveries at this agency), most of our instructions are from media employers hiring at the more junior end, with salaries sub £30k.

The bulk of this is from media owners with vacant media sales jobs but media agency recruitment is increasing also from the extremely low base of the past two years.  We are seeing more briefs on senior media sales and media planning/buying jobs but these have not recovered at the same pace as the junior roles. Overseas markets seem to be recovering at a faster pace than the UK. We have a number of senior media planning/buying jobs vacant for which we'd like to speak to candidates willing to re-locate.

Sector-wise; digital media jobs continue to come up. Media sales jobs in radio and media sales jobs in Outdoor media (OOH) are also showing some growth. The conference market seems to have suffered less then most, unlike in the last downturn, and we're seeing little shortage in conference producer jobs and conference sponsorship sales jobs. Data analysts are always needed and their importance is highlighted in times like these. Media advertisers always want value-for-money and now more than ever, so those of use lucky enough to have good number-crunching and analysis skills are at a premium. If you want to develop your career in quantitative media analysis; do give us a call!!

In summary, we're looking forward to a continuation of this steady growth trend so if you're looking to recruit, or want to be considered for media sales jobs; media planning/buying jobs; conference sponsorship jobs; conference production jobs; or quantitative research/analysis jobs, or would value any information on the current media recruitment market; then do contact us.
