Description

A leading provider of strategic advice and competitive intelligence, working with 22k companies in 50 countries, is looking to hire a Business Development Director to provide Insight services to existing clients through new sales and enhanced current services. Reporting to the Head of New Business and working closely with all areas of the Commercial Department, you will develop strategies and build relationships with existing clients, and understand customer and industry trends.

Business Development Director - Purpose of the role

  • Key purpose of role is to drive sales of Insight services through effective partnerships with the New Business and Business Development teams
  • Responsible for providing sales consultancy that adds value for our clients by joining the dots across the  offer
  • Responsible for commissioning pre-sales insights from our team of Connect consultants to support major new business pitches and significant renewals
  • Develops key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans
  • Responsible for hitting quarterly and annual sales targets, building relationships and understanding customer trends
  • Has critical interfaces with New Business, Business Development, Head of Consultancy Services, Heads of Insight

Key Responsibilities

  • To drive revenue growth for Insight services
  • To communicate our value proposition effectively through client proposals and presentations
  • To demonstrate links between Connect activities and overall UK & I KPIs (client retention/renewal, account growth, new business, client satisfaction)
  • To implement "commercial best practice" processes to support success
  • Strong commercial focus, continually working to uncover new client revenue opportunities
  • To ensure all Media insight services meet client requirements whilst maintaining profitability and margins.
  • Drive service knowledge throughout the commercial team.

Candidate Profile / Knowledge and skills required:

Essential:

  • Proven success in Insights or related market
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Previous experience of working with Key Clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Establishing effective working relationships and stakeholders at all levels internally
  • The drive to deliver excellent end to end client service

Desirable:

  • Strong knowledge within Insights frameworks and methodologies
  • Skilled in consultative selling
  • Builds collaborative relationships
  • Balances stakeholders
  • Experience of responding successfully to client briefs and tenders
  • Very strong inter-personal skills and comfortable/effective working with senior executives
  • A track record of operating as a trusted consultant to clients and building strong, senior-level client relationships
  • Operated in complex matrixed environment of similar size and scale
  • Passionate about transformation of digital technology
